Issue with Water Basic

Hi,

I'm new to using Unity and just learning my way around the software by following YouTube videos and stuff.

I ran across this one problem that no one in any of the videos seem to have

When I add Water Basic to my terrain it the water has no texture or "waves" its just a blank colour with no definition.

Then I seen an error in the console which says

Material doesn't have a float or range property '_WaveScale'
UnityEngine.Material:GetFloat(String)
WaterSimple:Update() (at Assets/Standard Assets/Water (Basic)/Sources/Scripts/WaterSimple.cs:18)

I tried going into the Water script to see what was no wrong but I do not have the experience or knowledge to fix the problem. Can anyone help?

EDIT: I also get this

I think we have a similar problem. My water also has no texture or waves. It's just a blue plane with some stripes moving around (attached image).

However, I don't get any errors in the console.

The pro version seems to work, as well as the Water4Example prefab.

Does anyone know a solution?

EDIT: My GPU is a GTX 770 and I tried the GeForce 337.88 and 340.43 drivers. Also running Unity in DX9 mode didn't solve the problem.

 

I am having the same issue. I installed the patch but my water still looks like this. Does anyone have another solution?

 

Copypasta from my answer to another question:

Replacing the water "shader" script (click "edit" beside shader fx/water(simple) in the inspector with the water selected) with the one in this thread worked for me.
