    hi everyone!
i just came across unity and it seems pretty interesting for a project i would like to realize. but, before buying i would like to know if unity3d can make a walthrough of my scene look like the stills i rendered

    http://picasaweb.google.com/149047/HumanchaosLUNA?authkey=Gv1sRgCIT8_7Wmgqu3yAE&feat=directlink

will unity be able to make it look like the stills?
the files a pretty complex structures, based on 2000 data nodes running through a spline.

    looking forward to your replies,
    markus

Yes! It would require you to bake in the ambient occlusion though, and I guess it would require some processing power if you want those shapes to have as few jagged edges as possible.

But definitely, Unity would be very suitable for this scene :)

    *really nice looking btw!

Shouldn't be a problem. You will likely have to break your model up into smaller pieces so as not to exceed the maximum poly per object limit (32,000 polys if I recall correctly?) and may need to optimize the mesh a bit. One of Unity's strengths is its ability to push poly's, so I don't see this as being an overly huge issue. Otherwise, just UV map and bake your lighting and you should be golden.

Love your artwork btw. This would make a very nice interactive exhibit...

thank you very much, that sounds promising !!!
i hope unity3d will let me realize this project without any coding stuff - that would be a problem for me.

btw: thanx also for your compliments - yep, i am working on an interactive exhibit :)

Cool! If you plan to only walk around in the scene, you shouldn`t worry about coding :) If you need to interact though, I guess you`ll have to do some coding.

Looking forward to seeing more of this project!

btw. check you www.theunityartist.com as well...

This doesn't look all that much like the stills:

but is a quick sample of what some baked AO can do, the time in unity to put that together was minimal. The poly count there is very low, but not because it has to be.

    cheers,
