Is this the quality I can (still) expect?

I discovered that unity had added a tilemap feature to the 2d engine. I downloaded unity (actually i tried updating my old copy, only to realize after 30 mins of being confused, that the in app updater only updated to the last version of the prior versioning system, without EVER telling me about the new versioning system, and engine releases), and began to work with them. Seems like a great implementation except of course for the (known) fact that tile pallet doesn't work. This is an integral part of the system, and it is frankly ridiculous that people are STILL waiting for a fix.

Is this a common issue? features not working, and having to wait a month or longer for a fix? It being fixed on the dev/beta branch doesn't help anybody. Its not like this is some minor niche, edge case feature. Anybody who wants to use a tilemap (a common 2d gameplay construct), is screwed.

edit: I see there are plenty of other issues with the tilemaps as well. Great work unity team!

Yes, this is a common thing. Unity contains many bugs, from cosmetics to major issues.

If you submit a bug-report, it often takes months or perhaps years for those fixes to land.

If you do not submit a bug-report, or just post the issue in this forum (Unity does not use the forum to track bugs), a fix might never see the light (because Unity might not be aware of it or it simply does not generate enough user pain to justify that someone works on it).
