    Is it true that the normal mode in Unity 2022.2.7f1 appears to be incorrect?

    2022.2.7.f1 HDRP14+

    Incorrect normal map
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------


    2022.1.24f1 HDRP13+

    Correct normal map
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------



    2022.2.7.f1
    The wrong normal map bothers me. I hope I can fix it as soon as possible

    Make sure the settings are correct between the two versions, just to make sure it's not a configuration issue.
    After that, if it was working in a previous version, and isn't anymore with the same settings then probably a bug.
    Report it as a bug, hopefully unity will look into it.

    After several iterations, the bug is still not fixed, I am so helpless. The normal mapping of 2D sprites is all wrong after mirroring, why not solve this problem?

    I tried with 2022.2.19, and don't seem to have the issue you're mentioning :/

    May I ask how you did it? Is it a double-sided material? When I rotate Y-180 degrees, an error occurs and Normal Mode is Mirror

    The sphere on the left Y rotated -180 degrees, they are both double-sided material, Normal Mode is Mirror

    2022.1 version is no this problem, but 2022.2 have this problem, what should I do 。。。。

    Are you 100% sure you are not using the NormalMode "Flip" ?
    Because it is what it looks like.

    I did a test scene with the textures you've shared, and this is what I got :

    The material setting is nothing particular :

    I do have a similar rendering then you only if I set to "Flip".

    I seem to have found the problem, there is no problem using Mesh Renderer, but I have been using Sprite Renderer, the material ball and your settings are the same, but Sprite Renderer still errors, because my character is 2D

    2023.1.2f1 seems to solve this problem, but I found in my tests that whenever the object's animation involves a material change, the error occurs.

    I can see that developers are looking at the issue, furthermore there is a change in how sprites rendering is done between 2022.x and 2023.x, so they might have to implement different fixes.
    I've also added your finding about animation to the discussion.
    I hope it will be fixed soon, but summer season is coming with it's usual vacations and down time.

    2023.1.11f1 seems to have solved some of the problems, but as soon as I edit the material animations, especially when it comes to color and self-luminous value changes, something goes wrong, and I enabled GPU instantiation as per the instructions, but the whole character is white. What should I do? I can never seem to render sprites with normal maps correctly. Please help me.

    This bug only appears during play

    I think the animation issue is caused by something else. Could you please file a different bug report ?

    Isolate your scene where the issue is visible, and use Help > Report a Bug menu button in Unity.
