Sorry, all of the "help" forums are inactive.

So, without sending the game file over skype or buying pro, is there a way for me and my friend to both develop the same project on different PCs?

Pro doesn't have anything to do with multiple people working on the same project. In the past it had some features which helped with version control, but Personal has them as well now.

Anyway, yes, you can have multiple people work on a project. The best way is likely to be with a version control system, so I'd look into something like Bitbucket. It definitely has a learning curve, but it's definitely worth it.

Work through version control system, like git.

You'll be able to work on different scripts at the same time, upload assets at the same time, etc.

However, that won't allow you to simultaneously edit the same scene or simultaneously modify binary files.

If you force text serialisation you can sometimes get away with working on the same scene. Use with caution.

If just want to give someone your source, and you don't need to collaborate, simply zip up your project files and throw it up on drop box.

Pro still has features that helps with version control which personal does not. Built-in support for Asset Server, Perforce and PlasticSCM is only available to pro users.

As you said, it is still possible to use version control without pro, though.

We use perforce with personal, you just don't get any shiny buttons in the editor itself. We host our own server and just check in and out files through the project folder manually. Honestly I just use the "reconcile offline work" function and then it automatically detects everything Ive changed so that I can check it in.
