Is there any advantage to using Unity2D if I'm targeting PC only?

I have been running around like mad trying to figure out my plan for what I'm going to work on, and I've decided to do a mix of 2D/3D graphics. I would just like to know if there's any advantage to using 2D methods if I'm aiming for Kongregate and Steam.

Definitely, the sprites are 10x easier to use first off.

Also specialised 2D physics are great,

Sprites... like 8 bit stuff? I was going to use vector art puppets, etc. Not really worried about ease any longer. Just what things can do toward my goal. Thanks a lot!
