Question Is there a way to use Render Texture within a TMP text?

I want to use an animated 3d object in several parts of my UI (simple rotation), so i decided to use Render Texture, but i faced the problem that TMP works only with sprites, although it's possible to drag and drop Render Texture into the Sprite Atlas field in TMP Sprite Asset file, but it renders as a blank space. I see two possible solutions:
    1) TMP seems to be open source, so i can try to make it compatible with Render Texture (i'm afraid there may be a reason why this hasn't been implemented yet)
    2) Create a regular 2d animation outside Unity and use <sprite anim="...">
Both solutions seem not very practical to me, so i would like to hear any advice.
