I'm wondering if there's a way to make text very blurry. I'd like to be able to adjust the blurriness from none to a lot (illegible). Are there any tools that deal with this already?

off hand, you could put a square in front of it with the right material, think in standard assets ones included...

though it doesn't let you adjust how blurry <_<

Just in case you can't find any solutions for this, here is an example of making the text fuzzy using TextMesh Pro.

In this example I am using the Distance Field shader with a texture on the face of the text and then adding softness. Using different texture patterns could be a nice way to disguise the text. These material properties could be animated via scripting to provide control over the FX.

Thank you very much to both of you, RavenMikal and Stephan B! I've picked up Text Mesh Pro to achieve the customization I needed for the font. I even sent Stephan an example mock-up and he explained in fine detail how to achieve the appearance I needed. What a great asset with wonderful support! =D
