    Hey!
    Just wondering.
Since I make Game Assets and Visual effects and stuff like that.
Mostly for RPG kind of games or MOBA, in which the camera points like diagonally from the top.

I Often wonder if the stuff i'm making is too small or too big... but that ultimately depends on the camera settings. So that's my question really. For this kind of games, is there anything like camera setting standard?

Just like in programing, you can program whatever the hell you want. But there's guidelines (or standards) for making your code friendly to your fellow programmers.
I though that maybe with this can be the same for camera settings for RPG or moba games? ... in the same spirit that even though you can use "whatever the hell camera settings you want" ... but this are "recommended" camera settings.

Or at least is there something like a "popular" or "most used" size? :S ... that would work too.

I've looked on google and can't find such thing.
Maybe it just doesn't exist ... which would be a bummer for me.

    Anyways, thanks!

As you say assets can technically be any size. However, I've heard some say to consider 1 Unity unit equivalent to 1 meter.

I think the safest bet is to use real life sizes based on meters. User can scale from there.

Makes more sense than making a tree 10cm's tall, then when user loads into his unity scene they can't find it, think it's invisible.

    Not really.

Basically an RPG will either try to do 2.5d projection like in diablo or baldur's gate OR it'll allow you to rotate freely around character. Some games used hybrid approach - in neverwinter titles you could play as if it was baldur's gate, but you could also activate chase camera and have it follor your character, almost down to third person perpsective level. Almost.

Basically, a good idea would be to take a look at Shadowrun, Pillars of Eternity, Dragon Age and Avernum.

There isn't even a standard perspective. It is 2.5d but things like fallout 1/2 are strictly isometric, while something like Planescape and Baldur's gate use artsy approach where the whole scene is just one big painting pretty much

Then there's a matter of CRPG vs JRPG..
