Is possible to use the Unity logo in my videotutorials (first 5 seconds) on Youtube?

    Hi!

I'm thinking about start recording a series of videotutorials in Spanish for Augmented reality game development using Unity and upload them to my motenized Youtube channel. I thought to use the Unity logo with the topic for 5 seconds at the beginning of each video, but I can't find out who I must contact to or how I must proceed to not infringe any copyright.

    I'll appreciate any help.

I believe this would fall under "fair use".

However, its always polite (and good practice) to talk to them about it anyway.

Wouldn't that also apply to games? Let's say you're making a Skyrim/Borderlands/etc. gameplay video as a tutorial but you don't have their permission to upload that video. Would that fall under those terms since you're posting it as a tutorial video to show how to play the game?

They want you to do it, or at least that's how I read it. Here's the link to it:

Well if you're using unity free, there's a watermark at the beginning of your game anyway, so I'm sure it wouldn't matter.

This. If anything it puts the brand in front of more people.

Right, but the issue with copyright is that this isn't always a good thing. What if he misrepresents Unity? What if he's showing people how to write hacking programs? What if his tutorial is about building a pornographic game? What if his inexperience makes Unity look cumbersome in areas that it isn't, etc.

I don't know that any of this applies here, but its dangerous to say "its ok, because they'll appreciate the publicity I'm giving them."

If he did a porn game, says unity sucks, etc, if he opens a game it'll show the logo for several seconds anyway...

Exactly. It doesn't matter what type of game he makes, it will still show the logo :p. If he writes in big text "UNITY SUCKS" interactively, then it will have to load with the unity webplayer watermark :p.

Yes, which is why I said it doesn't necessarily apply here. I was speaking to the general mentality of "its ok, because they'll appreciate the publicity I'm giving them."
