Hi. This may be an unusual question but I am curious. How is it possible, that for example Terranigma (SNES game made by Enix if someone doesn't know) is made in 2D but the actor is basically walking on background. Because if I use room interior as my game background in 2D there is no way my actor could walk on it, because it's not a floor, it's more a wall. I know it was made in different engine but Unity has to be able to do it, right? I mean, I could make it in 3D where I would use the room interior as a sprite on floor and could make separate colliders for room objects but that's not it. Please, explain me how that is done I would really like to make that kind of game if it would be possible in 2D. Thanks

Sure you can; just use the X/Y plane as usual. Whatever is "top" is arbitrary. Example

Thanks for you answer mate but I don't really understand that. I just tried to make it using plane and I found out that I have to transform.Rotate.x to 90 for plane.. not in script but in inspector. And if I do that than left and right is fine but down would send my actor in the floor. Can you please be just a little more detailed. I am beginner and I really appreciate your help. Thanks

Oh heck, don't go messing with planes. Treat your 2d game as if it was just the UI or GUI. I recommend using either NGUI or TK2D as your sprite engine, I've used both but have a leaning towards NGUI.

I will stick to the first advice and try to figure it out since I can't understand anything from what you just wrote. Thanks anyway :)
