I figure the cards would be planes with textures...

Is it a good idea to go for 3D or should it be 2D?

I guess it really wouldn't matter whether if it was in 2D or 3D

The reason why I ask is because I have mostly 3D modelers on the team.

What are 3D modelers going to do? If you're making a card game, you need actual artists for the cards and the interface. 3D modelers are going to be a very small portion of things.

But yeah, it doesn't matter if it's 3D or 2D. You'll have some slight problems most likely with the meshes at some point if you're just using standard planes, but it's a good starting point.

Of course it is. Probably easier in 3D if you use Unity. Have fun.

Unless you happen to be doing something special with the cards, can't imagine needing 3D beyond making renders for the art on the cards. That's more a decision you need to be talking with your interface programmers.

Maybe 2.5D is a good idea. What do you think?

    Technically, of course. Visually, perhaps.
