Yep, totally fine. Just will be a bit harder to manage multiple projects, unity versions, and platform modules.

Totally fine to not use it
The only time i use it and launch it is when i bought a new assetstore package and have to dowload it , or to update all my bought assets to the latest versions
I think there is no other way than logging in via the hub to be able to (re)download your assets
Other then that, on my systems, the hub is hidden away from Unity ( it does NOT autostart for me ).
My Unity installs are not able to find the hub's exe path and are not allowed to update their config to store the exe path , in the case they found the path by accident

It seems like you still need the hub for publishing games, though?

Why? Unity doesn't handle any publishing

Doesn't Unity need to login once a month at least to verify the licence?

Ah yeah, services might need the hub. What is your reason for not wanting to install it if I may ask?

I don't want any extra programs installed, if they are not necessary.
