I just saw this asset, Doozy UI Manager, it seems very useful for a project I'm currently working on, especially because of the UI animation system. But before buying it, I would like to know the opinions of those who have used it.

    So, is it worth buying?

If you want a quick Unity UI animation editor, it has that. But how many differently animated UI views do you need, really? Good UI is consistent, so you have a couple of animations that you apply to all UI. An animation editor with endless options is not that valuable in practice.

It also brings a lot of bloat (the asset itself is 120+mb, I wonder what's the impact on build size) and bugs with it. The system is massive, likely includes way more features than you'll ever need. And my editor gets visibly slower with v4 in my project and the last version of v4 I tried was particularly bad - it made me wait up to 40 seconds each time I selected a GameObject with Doozy UI components on it after opening the project. After the initial object selection and load, I then could select that object normally, but I had several objects like that. So I dropped the system entirely. It might be fixed now, or it might not apply to your Unity version, no clue. I didn't have the time to troubleshoot issues like that.

Chances are you'll lose as much or more time as you'll gain by using it. I would only ever consider using it if I had a lot (20-30+) separate UI views in complex hierarchies and when v4 gets more stable. And even then I'd strongly consider rolling my own solution because my experience with Doozy v3 and v4 hasn't been positive. Your mileage may vary.

I liked v3 and hate v4. They overhauled the whole damn thing and it wasn't a good choice.

Anyone an idea how to contact the Doozy UI team? I think I found a bug regarding Toggles and want to get it fixed. I posted the bug in action here:

I used to use Doozy, but it became so bloated and full of bugs I stopped using it in all future games and rolled my own system.

    Edit: 31/5/2023

I've since gone back to using the updated version as it's much better than it used to be.
