Is Cache Server Secure To Host On Open Internet?

When I go to work I want to use my home cache server to avoid rebuilding, however, I suspect it's very dangerous to expose the cache server on the open internet since there's no password protection.

Is it safe?

 

you should use a VPN if you are concerned about security.
also I don't know if having a remote CS over the internet actually improves speed, as all the assets you import need do be uploaded & downloaded (do you have a very fast connection?)

 

For all resources on a work network I would only ever expose via VPN.

Also for it to be worthwhile you would need very fast internet on both sides
