Question IOS / Android keyboard for unity

i have a text input field in one of my scenes on unity (a search bar) but when i am testing the app on my phone using unity remote and clicking on the text input field with my finger, no keyboard pops up. any idea on how to fix this?

on my computer it works fine as i am able to use the keyboard to type into the field however no keyboard pops up on my phone when i click the field.
