iOS and downloading external packages (levels, extras,etc.), possible?

So I am sure this may have been answered in the past, but I can't seem to find anything about it. AND this is one of my first foray's into the Unity world.

But, does iOS allow for downloads of external packages or extensions through your app. Let's say a new level for a game, an extra section for your app? And is this possible through Unity without having to go through the iOS store?
