I've been trying to install Unity 5.3.1f1 (64-bit) on Ubuntu 15.04 (also 64-bit) and
everytime i hit install on software center it would stall for about 5 minutes and reboot my computer without any error message or kernel panics, didn't even get to the authentication part. I also tried installing through the terminal (i think i used dpkg and apt get install -f) and it started installing, and then rebooted again without any error in the terminal and left a broken package. Sorry, i don't have much experience with Ubuntu yet. Here's my specs:

    Ubuntu 15.04 Wily Werewolf amd64
Intel i5 64bit (don't know the clock speed and gen, but i think it's gen 1)
Nvidia Geforce GTX 750 ASUS 2GB DDR5 (Not overclocked, using proprietary drivers)
    12GB of DDR3 RAM

I have plenty of space on my Ubuntu drive, i think about 90GB left. I'm installing on my admin user, but i do have a normal user i haven't tried installing on yet.

    Thanks for your time.

    SergeantG,

I tried to follow your instructions and still have issues. Currently i have Unity installed on my machine, however there is no launch button. I can search for Unity on my machine and the Icon is there, however when i double click, nothing happens. When i right click, there is no option for launch.

I was having some issues in installing the previous versions, but 5.3.4f1 worked like a charm (Ubuntu 16.04 here)
