I want to map the keys for both Xbox and PS4 controllers in the input manager. However I cannot get Unity to recognize which controller is plugged in and hence use the correct set of inputs. For instance on an Xbox controller the left button corresponds to joystick button 2 and on the Playstation 4 controller it corresponds to joystick button 0.

What happens is that multiple inputs get mapped to individual buttons if I try to define all the inputs for both controllers.

Is there a way to disable some input sets when it is not the corresponding controller which is attached?

I found the solution I was looking for with the asset store plug in called Rewired.
