Increasing input field max character limit?

    When using my app on android the input field has a character limit of around 800 characters. Is there anyway to increase this limit? There is a setting in unity on the Text Input Field for character Limit but It does not work. I am guessing it is android that is performing the limit? My app is taking input fields of possibly up to 2000 characters.
    Any help would be appreciated.
