Question In 2020.x or 2021.x is anybody seeing FPS higher than 90 in the stats dialog?

I'm looking for at least screen snips. I can't get even an empty template to run better than 90FPS on the rift. 2019.x does not have this kind of limit in the editor. I have to believe at this point its a global issue. Not sure why I'm not seeing more devs posting about it. Either many arent porting to new LTS or newer projects never saw older editor speeds. I need some help here so I can continue working on my game.

VR runs with v-sync. So you're never going to see higher than 90 because that's the refresh rate of the OG Rift.

Maybe I was able to go "higher" with 2019, but it may have been false readings. My game is heavily focused on physics and things would have been broken had that been the case. So I don't really believe it was true even if the editor was claiming it to be.

EDIT: Deleted my original post because I wasn't getting what you meant. But for the record, I've run at 72/80/90/120/144 fps in the editor when that's what my refresh rate was set on my Index/Quest 2.

So you're saying they made a change relating to VR in the newer UIs that I can't "unlock"? Running my game in the newer versions feels way less smooth than it does in 2019.x. It just seems like I'm not getting the best experience since 2019.x. If that's the way it is, I guess I'll just have to live with it. I at least wanted some kind of confirmation from other devs. I could also try using quest2 via airlink, but I assumed I'd still be locked at 90FPS.

    Thanks for the response!

You can only select the target refresh rate for Oculus Quest 2 and the hardware will try to match it by setting CPU/GPU levels, using Timewarp/SpaceWarp/AppSpaceWarp and other mechanisms.

You can set the target refresh rate using apps like Sidequest or through ADB:
    adb shell setprop debug.oculus.refreshRate 72/90

The supported refresh rates are 72 and 90 Hz. There is also a 120 Hz refresh rate mode, although it is experimental.

@tomekswk I don't think rift has a config for refresh rate like quest2 has. (I have both) I guess I got tripped up because unity has locked the FPS on the newer version, but I don't think they announced anything to that effect. In the past I've done a lot of tests before I commit to a new unity version, and the editor stats would play a big part in that. It's now going to be harder to assess if an upgrade has issues I think. Previously my game would run around 130FPS in the editor and I felt like I could assess the fact that I had overhead above the minimum spec which is 90 FPS on rift. Now that the number is tighter, dips in FPS will not be as obvious. It feels like I'm giving up some functionality because the editor isn't buttery smooth for the newer versions, but in the name of moving forward, I guess I'm just going to finally jump in. Thanks for the info, I may mess around with 120 just to see if it feels like it used to.
