I'm trying to import a 100k poly object from 3ds max to unity. I tried .fbx and .obj formats. Unity divides object to 3-4 meshes after importing because of the high poly number. Is there any way to import it as a single mesh?

65k is the limit, so it will be automatically split.

You could try optimizing it in 3dsmax to keep it in 1 piece..

If I decrease the poly under 65k, it significantly reduces the quality of the object. Isn't there any way to change the limit or merge the meshes again after importing?

    I dont think so..

Is there some problem using the splitted object instead?

No i tried to split the object in 3ds max, but I'm using object2terrain and when I apply it, splitted terrains don't fit.

    Wow!
So if I made an Enviroment object or character, for a Fighting game, I would have to use anything close to
    65000 tris
    ?
    Thanks for that reminder. :D

How could I forget that.

I had an enviroment object in mind, that would have been more than 100,000 tris.
I haven't made it yet though.
    It's still a concept.

Guess I'll have to use some old school, poly reduction/baking tricks to get it to look Great! :p
