    Hello everyone,

I am working on developing a unity app that should allow users to upload 3D models (think CAD software). Ideally, users should be able to upload .fbx files and add them to the scene so that they can edit them. Is this possible in unity? I have tried using the Unity WWW class to grab an fbx file from the local machine, but I am unsure of how I can import the file into the scene after I have done this.

You'd need a parser that reads FBX files and creates a mesh from them.

Hmm, how would I go about finding something like that? How about importing from a more universal file format like .obj? Would that be easier to find? Has anyone done anything like this and documented it well?

You can buy one for .fbx or .obj like for example the one Eric made (see his signature). You can also try make one yourself with with file specs and mesh class if you think you have the time and skills.
