I recently upgraded from Unity 5.6.0f3 to 2019.1. In my previous version of unity I had this model that I dragged into the project panel from and fbx file.
    5.6.0f3D.jpg

As you can see in the inspector it has a material and a texture attached to the material . When I dragged the file in all I had to do was choose legacy shader then from the shader dropdown in the inspector then choose decal and use the original uv jpg that I used when I greated the model.
When I dragged the SAME MODEL into 2019.3 I got this
    2019.3D.jpg

As you can see the whole material section of the inspector is greyed out and nothing can be changed. I am at a loss as to how to get my materials and textures back.
    I read this thread.

    https://forum.unity.com/threads/cant-edit-materials.513579/

But it did not really say that there was a solution yet.

I am looking for any solution that does not involve me having to delete all the materials from the model and then manually adding materials and textures again.

    Thanks in Advance.
