Imported 3d assets cause low fps. How to use them right?

    Yeah i know maybe this question is obvious for the majority of the people, but... i'm confused with the assets from the assetstore.
    When I import a 3d asset with some buildings and street props (for example) they look cool, but they cause high batches value and low fps. I think it's because of many materials in the scene like every detailed prop has it's own material and texture.
    So the assets look beautiful but i can't use them.
    Tell me please, what should i do with the assets after the importing to prepare them for a real use? Or is it ok when you import 3d asset and your fps becomes messed up in the scene? How does normal people get over this situation?
