hey everyone im having trouble with importing blend files ive always used blender with out a problem but just recently it imports as a different type of asset represented by a piece of paper instead of a game object and i cant drag into the scene hierarchy any ideas why this is happening?

Export as FBX. Make sure to select the objects you want to export and check the box to only export selected objects or you will get cameras, lights, etc.

Maybe the import scale is at 0.01? Change it to 1.
Another usual one for me is "Export Selected" being selected on Blender and having no objects selected. :p
