IMGUI at runtime, can it be made performant?

    Old project, laced with IMGUI for major tasks like in-game shop or health bar.
    PC is fine with it, Switch not so much.
    The GPU doesn't mind it but the CPU tanks hard.
    No guilayout, straight Rect.
    Before I tear all that stuff out and replace with UGUI, has anyone had luck making IMGUI performant?
