Hello I'm trying to get into the game industry and I want to add some games to my portfolio.
Can any of you link me to a beginners guide for unity. I used game maker before but it had too many limitations. I also have a basic understanding of java from my Gr 11 course.

Also I'm confused with the sprites. Do I draw them is photo shop/paint and then import them? Or is there a way to create them myself in unity.

Another thing how to assets work. It says I have a bunch of them at the bottom and when I try to add it to a sprite it doesn't show up in the box to the left.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are a whole lot of tutorials you can and should go through directly here on the Unity site:

    http://unity3d.com/learn

You create your "assets/sprites" in application such as Photoshop.
