    This failure occurs because the code in the project has extern methods in C#. Methods marked as extern with a the [Dllimport("__Internal")] attribute must be present in a native library that is linked with the Unity player when building with the IL2CPP scripting backend.

    For example, this in this project one function which causes this issue is named: _moPubIsInterstitialReady

    You have two options:

    1. Build a native library with all of the methods marked as extern with the [Dllimport("__Internal")] attribute for the target platform and architecture of the player. See this documentation for details about native plugins: https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/NativePlugins.html

    2. Remove the C# code which defines this extern method. You can do that with platform dependent compilation: https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/PlatformDependentCompilation.html

    Hi, I was using unity 2017.4.40 f1 and mojave everthing worked perfectly. After upgrading to catalina 10.15.7 i got error in build:

    For Troubleshoot:
    - I redownloaded the Unity 2017.4.40 f1 LTS
    - Redownloaded NDK 13b
    - Tried Turning of Engine Strip Code.
    - Tried Different Min SDK Version

    I'm getting the following error, doing a cloud Mac build (was working fine 4 days ago):

    1704: [Unity] ERROR: Player export failed. Reason: Exception: /UNITY_PATH/Unity/macos/published/Unity-2019_1_14f1/Unity.app/Contents/il2cpp/build/il2cppcore/il2cppcore.dll did not run properly!
    1705: ! build of 'mac-os-64-bit' failed. exit

    And doing a Linux build is throwing this (also worked fine 4 days ago):

    952: [Unity] ERROR: Error building Player: Currently selected scripting backend (IL2CPP) is not installed.
    953: [Unity] Error building Player: Currently selected scripting backend (IL2CPP) is not installed.
    954: [Unity] Finished exporting player successfully.
    955: ! build of 'comedy-night-linux-64-bit' failed. ! build failed - export directory is empty!

    Any ideas?

    Unity 2019.1.14f1 with IL2CPP enabled.

    Note: both work fine when built locally.

    This is usually a permissions error related to running on Windows 7. Please make sure that you have installed Unity with the same user account that you are using to run it.

    Thank you, but I deceived you a little in my error message. The fact is that the error contains Russian words, and when I trying to post exactly as it is, the forum did not allow it. So I translated the words into English myself, and only now realized that I did it wrong. The original line looks like this:
    "Native error= [some russian words]"

    I think this words correctly translate like "Native error= The requested operation requires elevation."
    does this change anything?

    I dont know is it help, I found this in my pc.

    C:\Program Files\Unity\Hub\Editor\2019.4.14f1\Editor
    C:\Program Files\Unity_Hub

    tried to run Hub as administrator but that didn't help either

    I'm not sure then. Can you make sure that the latest version of the .NET Framework is installed on this computer?

    When trying to install .NET Framework 4.8 says that it is already installed.
    I remembered one error that occurs every time I run the unity. I fix it by commenting out a couple of lines in this file and the error disappears. But every time after restarting the unity, it appears again. Could this be related?

    I don't believe that is related. If you run the Unity editor as administrator, does the problem go away?

    no, I just tried to do it again, but it doesn't help either.
    but! I found that the message "your license does not cover Android Publishing" immediately after the creation attempt ends in build window. I don't remember seeing it before but I probably just didn't pay attention.
    No new errors appeared after try to build, except for this message. After restarting unity, the message disappeared. Could this be related?

    I don't think that a licensing check would impact this IL2CPP error message.

    The error that I had initially (post #206) disappeared. I just deleted the package that caused me the error described earlier in post #212. After that, I started creating the build and it was created successfully. I have no idea how they affect each other, but I didn't do any more manipulations.

    However, I have a different problem. After creating the build, unity just froze. The build settings window doesn't close, and the task manager says unity doesn't respond. There are no errors. However, the PC did not freeze. I waited 20 minutes for unity and didn't Wake up. After restarting everything is fine but immediately after creating the build freezes again. What can this be related to?

    Maybe part of the build process is taking a long time. Can you install Process Explorer from Microsoft and use it? That tools should tell you what child processes Unity.exe is running when the build happens. That might give a hint about the cause of the problem.

    Does the file `/Users/diaaabdelbare/android-ndk-r13b/toolchains/llvm/prebuilt/darwin-x86_64/bin/clang++` exist? The error message indicates that it does not, which might mean that the NDK is not installed correctly.

    Yes as you can here the file clang exists.
    I tried to :
    * re-download ndk-r13b.
    * re-install unity editor.
    note: mono build work fine.

    Does the clang++ file exist in that directory? It looks like that is the executable the Unity is trying to run (not clang).

    That looks like it is a problem! I'm unsure how to tell macOS that these files are fine, but I suspect this is the issue.

    it may be useful to someone, I did not understand the nature of my error so I just updated the unity from 2019.4.14 to 2019.4.16 and for now the error is gone. thank you for your advice.

    I believe there should be another, more specific error as well. Can you check for this in the editor log file? We'll need to see that error to better understand what happened here.

    Ok So I re downloaded the NDK and went through allowing all errors in Mac. As even out of box build was giving same error. Now the error seems to have changed to this.

    IL2CPP error for type 'System.Runtime.InteropServices.ComTypes.IMoniker' in assembly '/Users/virgilwylie/Documents/UnityGames/VirseCollab/ViRSE/Temp/StagingArea/assets/bin/Data/Managed/mscorlib.dll'

    Additional information: 'System.Runtime.InteropServices.ComTypes.IMoniker' doesn't have a GUID.

    I was using NDK16b which was used by another unity version. However when I downloaded another NDK16b and allowed it to work with Unity 2018.4.30 then it built fine for a new project. But above is the error my project is getting when I have upgraded Project from 2018.2.5 to 2018.4.30 .

    Are you attempting to use an assembly that relies on COM support? Unity has some limited COM support for the Windows Store player, but it does not support COM completely.

    Funny thing, I just upgraded unity to make Vivox work. However when I searched through solution for System.Runtime.InteropServices and found Vivox used the most. And then there were Photon and Voxel Buster. How do I narrow down which one is an issue. Strange it works fine in Unity 2018.2 and not on Unity 2018.4 . I have moved back to Unity 2018.2 for now.

    Odd, I don't know of any changes in 2018.4 that would cause this, but I would like to understand why this happens. You might be able to trouble shoot it by starting with an empty project and adding those components one by one.

    Also, if you can send us the project via a bug report, we can have a look at it.

    Adding components one by one would be very much time consuming. Specially when every import takes a lot of time. I will check Bug Report and see how I can send you the project.

    This error often means that Unity was installed with one user account (maybe the administrator account) and is being run with another account. I believe you will need to install and run Unity as the asme account - ideally a non-administrator account.

    This usually means there is some kind of API mismatch or update issue in the project. Does the project use `UnityEngine.Experimental.Rendering.RenderPipeline` anywhere? I believe that this can happen because the experimental rendering pipeline changed its API, but maybe some code in the project is still using the old API.

    You can try to re-import all assemblies in the project - that should run the API updater tool and attempt to correct this.

    Hey there, I could use some serious help with an IL2CPP issue I'm facing. I need to update the app for Google Play but I cannot get it to compile using IL2CPP.

    My configs are...
    OS: Windows 10
    Unity Version: Unity 2017.4.40f1
    NDK Version: NDK 13b
    Build System: Gradle
    Scripting Rungin ver: .NET 4.6 ... tried 3.5 and that doesn't work
    API Compatibility Level: .Net 4.6
    Target Architectures: ARMv7 and ARM64 (x86 unselected, but tried just ARMv7 or ARM64 and neither works alone)

    I've spent the entire day trying to figure out why it's not compiling with IL2CPP. I'm able to compile using MONO and the app works, but with Google's new 64-bit rules, I need to get this app working with IL2CPP. It comes up with two errors I cannot get around...

    Then for some reason it shows a "Succeeded" Message below it, which doesn't make sense since it does not produce a .APK or a .AAB. Tried many things that I found online but nothing works or changes the message. Could really use some help as I'm unable to publish an update for my app without this 64bit compile using IL2CPP. My app breaks trying to go to 2018, 2019, or 2020 so this is why I need this to work with 2017.4... any help would be appreciated!

    This failure occurs because the code in the project has extern methods in C#. Methods marked as extern with a the [Dllimport("__Internal")] attribute must be present in a native library that is linked with the Unity player when building with the IL2CPP scripting backend.

    For example, this in this project one function which causes this issue is named: ivcp_Log

    You have two options:

    1. Build a native library with all of the methods marked as extern with the [Dllimport("__Internal")] attribute for the target platform and architecture of the player. See this documentation for details about native plugins: https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/NativePlugins.html

    2. Remove the C# code which defines this extern method. You can do that with platform dependent compilation: https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/PlatformDependentCompilation.html

    This failure occurs because the code in the project has extern methods in C#. Methods marked as extern with a the [Dllimport("__Internal")] attribute must be present in a native library that is linked with the Unity player when building with the IL2CPP scripting backend.

    For example, this in this project one function which causes this issue is named: openPage
    You have two options:

    1. Build a native library with all of the methods marked as extern with the [Dllimport("__Internal")] attribute for the target platform and architecture of the player. See this documentation for details about native plugins: https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/NativePlugins.html

    2. Remove the C# code which defines this extern method. You can do that with platform dependent compilation: https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/PlatformDependentCompilation.html
