    Hello everyone,

    After reading some of the replies we got from our previous post, we decided to show our WIP "Work In Progress" of the #IGMC Live 2015 game project. We recently started to work on the main idea we want for this game to show, began with a character design that is been kicking our minds for sometime and start giving live to what we would like to achieve.

    We are currently planning this game to be develop under two main programs for both programming and art. The first one been @Stencyl engine, since we got the Indie License to distribute our game through@HumbleBundle, and the second one we would use @PyxelEdit for the pixel art and animation.

    Anyways this post will be continuously updating until the end of the contest, we would like the community help us with continuous feedback and suggestions, we would take into account your feedback and try to give the best experience and best game we can deliver.

    Hello everyone,

    This week is been crazy, doing a lot of artwork, defining the Game Design Document along side with the goals for the following weeks of work. We are currently on the works for the tiles of the first couple areas, along side with some stuff we will share on the next update for this project.With our current project goals, we will like to have a prototype ready by the following Thursday if possible, basically with all the mechanics in place so we can start up to work on some animation for this character. We are currently two people working on this my wife and I, and we also are talking with some programmers to help us out with the enemy behaviors as well some event and triggers that we would like to have for this game.
    As the game takes form we will continuously update this post, thanks again and see you guys soon.

    Hello everyone,

    Here is the update for today, is been a long day working and designing! It took nearly 10 hour of work on this piece but we are happy with the details and style we achieved here. This piece will give you a small idea of the background story we want to tell here. For this week plans there are a lot of things we need to get done, regarding design, animations, GUI and backgrounds. We are hoping to show a working prototype for next week.

    We keep you guys post it, and any comment or feedback will be greatly appreciate it.

    Well guys, finally we we have a name for our game "XINTANA LEGENDS", the name itself is linked to our storytline of our game, we would share more details of this as we progress.
    Is been 1 week already since we start this project, so far we been working really hard to get the game done before the deadline is finished, we are getting almost the first level done, before starting to work on the programming and see those tiles finally been played.
    Lets hope we get some Gameplay prototype for this week so we can focus on the animations next.

    Is been a crazy week for as here at Double Ring Studios...Today we are really happy to announce the game at the moment is going well, there are big changes for us and this game. As mentioned before this game started it as small prototype from Stencyl Engine when IGMC 2015 went live, in the beginning we had a working prototype almost done with many of the mechanics we had for this game ready in less than a week. After finishing the prototype for the game, we then started to integrate some sprites, background and tiles within the game engine, but many problems began with performance, and not getting the results we wanted to have, it was very frustrating to say the least. This obviously comes from our experience, not having much knowledge with programming, and few understanding from engine itself, it would be take longer than expected for us to finish the game before the deadline.

    This lead us to join forces with our current partners Radical Graphics - Netherlands, we talk to them and show the prototype we had for Xintana Legends, and they propose us to make the full game insideUnity3D. This is a big change for us, because we been announcing the game to be develop in one platform and now we are changing it, but we don't want to limit ourselves with any specific tool; and with our previous experience inside the engine, we know that we can do much more than 2D sprites for our game.

    The good news are that now we won’t limit ourselves, with some of the ideas we wanted to have in this game, but couldn't make it because of the lack of experience. Now we would also have the opportunity to fully focus on the game art, and let the tech side to our friends this will helps to make the game even more stunning than before. Lastly we would have a team to rely on, and set the game for multiple platforms releases.

    There is also a music composer helping in our game, he is name is Diego Lynx and he will be working on an awesome soundtrack for our game, we hope to share more on as the game progresses.

    We hope you guys support us, and make Xintana Legends a great experience for all players around the world.

    Hello everyone! Is been a crazy 4 days working really hard to get everything ready for the deadline before the IGMC closes. We been working on the second stage, tiles and backgrounds and assets. Is been quiet challenging, but we believe we are making a lot of progress with the game.

    We are also working hand by hand with our composer Diego Linx, he is been doing the amazing soundtrack of "Xintana Legends", his work is very essential for our game, we want to create the right environment for game, both visually and musically.

    Hello everyone, we are here with some small update for our game, this week is getting tougher and tougher as the deadline approaches, I think most of the people participating on this challenge knows that. We have a lot tasks for us at hand, but the list is getting a bit smaller at least, that's a good news!

    We have a couple updates we would like to share with you guys! The first one is that Morten Barfod Søegaard has decided to help us out with some of the music and sound effects for our beloved game!Xintana Legends now officially has custom sound effects! For those who don't know him you can check it out his website here "Little Robot Sound Factory".

    We also have the great please to find and extra artist to help us with the animations for our game, he is name is Bruno Moraes, his amazing skills of doing Pixel Art animation is a real thing to see, you can find more about his work here Bruno Moraes Art.

    We are really happy with the results and feedback we are getting from our game, we can't wait to see this game in real action, our friends of Radical Graphics are working hard to make sure we have a good playable game for next week, so maybe we can show you guys something before the deadline finishes.

    UPDATE 1.7

    Hello guys,

    We are here again with another update for "Xintana Legends" the game is coming along nicely a lot of work is still at head, with many things to be done before we can call it out, but we are getting there we have the firsts animations for Xintana, there are more to expect from future updates, but we wanted to share with you guys some GIFs of her IDLE ANIMATION STATE, thanks to the awesome work done by Bruno Moraes3 you guys now can we where we going with this game in terms of Xintana's move set and animation, this was a very critical point for us but Bruno has done an excellent job here.

    Since we have differences from environments we thought it would be a good idea to have two different sprites, for lighter and darker areas.

    Now there are also some updates regarding the music of the game Diego Linx has share with us some amazing song for the OST of "Xintana Legends" here is the newest entry from his amazing work.

    UPDATE 1.8

    Well guys for today we have something special, this screenshot was capture from our Unity3D build, the game is looking much and much nicer everyday, this really helps to motivate us to keep pushing towards the deadline. There is still a lot of work to be done, with the parallax effect for the background scrolling some particle effects should be add it as well a lot of things to be honest but the game is coming along.

    UPDATE 1.9

    Hello guys we are here making a small update for this Sunday morning! We are making the GUI and Screen Title for Xintana Legends, we also are doing the in-game user interface for the game, getting the flowchart done before our programmers start to work, and make everything fluid and easy regarding the GUI.

    UPDATE 2.0

    Hi everyone! A lot of things happening since last update, we been working hard the game prototype is almost done with all the mechanics for the game, mean while Bruno Moraes keeps working hard on the animations for Xintana, and we at Double Ring Studios are doing some enemies animations a long with the GUI and some other stuff that needs to get done. We are happy to share the next screenshot, the is again a basic idleAnimation but there also a reason why we need our heroine to have both animations with sword and without sword, more on that later.

    UPDATE 2.1

    Hello again! We are here with a small update there are a lot of things going on but we cant show any of this work in progress, we are hoping to finally show some gameplay from inside unity, the game itself is coming along nicely, probably we would have to speedup some things regarding the Animation side, since is taking a lot of time at the moment for the enemy character, bosses and Xintana main animations we are hoping to get it done before this week since we need at least 3 days to test out the gameplay, to polish and clean bugs! Lets us hope that we can make it.
    My wife Estefania is doing an amazing job, regarding the environments we both been working really hard to make this game something stunning and beautiful to look at it, we are getting there but still not enough time as always. This a small Screen Capture from our Savin Point inside "Xintana Legends".

    Alright this is also the first time we going to give a little update regarding where our inspiration comes from for the storytelling of our game. We basically are inspired by our ancestors from the Precolombian era, where many indigenous tribes from Colombia - South America tell their stories of fantasy and cosmologist legends, about their world and how it came to be. This is something really special for us, because we want to incorporate some of the legends and myths from these tribes and help rescue some of these forgotten cultures from the Precolombian era. As for the saving point as example we where inspired by the San Augustin Culture. The "Fuente Lavapatas" is a magnificent demonstration of sculptural skills and creativity of the Augustinian Culture, as the Fuente, is located on a natural creek, and they took stones that were on the creek and were carving on them, creating a intricate network of canals and artificial waterfalls, surrounded by zoomorphic, anthropomorphic figures or mixtures thereof.

    This is just an small example of the many inspirations we have for our game Xintana Legends is clearly something ambitious, but the fun of making something that helps somehow teach people about this cultures into a game form, we think has a lot of potential within the game development.

    Lastly there is a small update for the last level of the game, we still need to work in some of the designs we want for this area but so far is taking a good form.

    We also want to thank our friends of Radical Graphics, they been pushing themselves to get this game ready before the deadline, without them we wouldn't be able to make this game the experience we want to make.

    That's all fine and dandy.
    But I'm wondering why you post that on the Unity forums, when you actually using Stencil for this game?

    Edit: Ok, reading the rest, it seems you now using Unity.

    Yes @nipoco in the UPDATE 1.4 we switch permanently to Unity we were having a lot of issues with Stencyl performance, too many backgrounds layers ran out of memory very quickly!
