If you were to make Astroneer in unity what assets from the store would you use?

    I would design the whole thing from scratch, without using anything from asset store.

    The topic of this thread crossed my mind the other day when I finally gave Astroneer a whirl. Unfortunately the first asset to cross my mind would be a voxel-based terrain system and there simply aren't any that are kept up-to-date. The last one that showed promise - Ultimate Terrains - appears to be abandoned now but at least it does include full source.

    www.TerrainEngine.io not quite yet on the asset store; but an amazing voxel engine and still being actively developed.

    Yeah it does have a hefty price tag on it for open source. Closed source is worth the investment imo.

    Wow that price you weren't kidding, and im actually surprised this thread got comments.

    One of the biggest things besides the voxel terrain was figuring out how they did the multi planets and being able to play between them (i would do it sorta NMS style) personally

    Planets are simply collections of voxel chunks. Multiple planets is simply a matter of supporting multiple collections at different locations. You can actually see the voxel chunks in-game right now because the boundaries aren't lining up properly.
