If Unity did a Xmas Panto, who would be the characters and what would be the storyline?

Would the panto's cast be made up of Iconic Unity characters or Unity game characters?

What panto storyline would be used, something traditional or more Brothers Grimm style?
Would Unity then do a Panto Demo using OTOY's Octane technology?

After all Unity is renowned for it's demos, and with a Panto we could share it with friends and relatives!

Apologies should have added a poll, please use likes on suggestions you agree with.

OK there are conventions to Pantomimes (who knew, I only have ideas, google finds the knowledge).
    • The leading male juvenile character (the principal boy) is traditionally played by a young woman, usually in tight-fitting male garments (such as breeches) that make her female charms evident. Her romantic partner is the principal girl, a female ingenue.
So Unity Chan would be the obvious choice for our leading male character:

    • An older woman (the pantomime dame – often the hero's mother) is usually played by a man in drag.

Obviously this guy should be the pantomime dame (and he should keep the tash):

    • The animal, played by an actor in "animal skin" or animal costume. It is often a pantomime horse or cow, played by two actors in a single costume, one as the head and front legs, the other as the body and back legs.
So pantomime horse or cow could be a cloth cover over a couple of these guys:

Bad guy or should that be dame (might depend on storyline) has to be, you guessed it:

As you can see Unity already has most of the cast of characters it needs for a Panto.

So the question is what storyline should they go with?

What characters would you choose and what should they wear?

And what about the set, Sci-Fi Space Station/Lab, Viking Town, Downtown America, Future Robot Citadel or all of the above?

Maybe it's asking too much, would need voice acting, music, songs, dancing, facial animations and jokes.

Too much of a drag on resources maybe?

What if the Unity Community made a Panto, most real life Pantos are local, community generated events. Could the Unity community make a Panto?

No just an Idea that I thought would be fun.

Look at the Unity Demos, they tend to be dark and lacking in fun and humour. It's like they have this great toy or game engine and they don't know how to have fun with it.

I really do think doing a Panto demo might be good for the Unity developers, who knows they could even 3D model some of their staff and dress them up in panto drag and have them act in the panto.

With a 3D mocap solution they could probably do the entire thing in a couple of days.

It's about time a game engine did a fun/silly demo, dark stuff, is so last century!

They should definitely ask themselves the next time they do a demo "What would Pixar do?"

I think they tried that with butterfly and got shouted at. People know Unity can do NPR quite well. From what I read, people want more kick ass next gen boomtastic stuff.

And you couldn't do a kick ass next gen boomtastic fun panto with Unity?

Take Overwatches Animated Shorts for example, fun and they meet your other criteria...

    LOL it's for fun!

Yes Unity has Timeline and improved animation tools, and OTOY!

So why not put them to a test, the production of a Pantomime!

Fun fact, the head of the Docs team does actually write the script for her local panto every year. We are delighted by this!

Cool hire some mocap suits, a 3D scanner, boom mikes and a couple of dress rehearsals and a bit of work later you can have a Unity Panto!

Charles is the prince. He might possibly be old enough to be the King/Emperor (father of the princess that the principle boy always marries.) Having cast many dames in my life, I can say with confidence that he doesn't have the look of the dame about him.

Don't forget the three wise men bearing gifts of:

    -Gold rendered in forward+
-Frankincense from the resin of a tree grown on the new terrain system
-Myrhh carried in nested prefabbed vessels.

Wow your already working on this cool, looking forward to seeing your progress!

I'm working on my own Unity panto idea so it will be interesting to see how they progress!

Hah, no it's not something I'm working on, that was just a very quick thing I threw together purely for that post on this thread :D I already had the characters to hand, and I just grabbed some images off google and put them on planes, for the scenery. I'll be interested to see how your project progresses though!
