I need suggestions of what I can add to my game. Right now I have like a basic FPS with shooting and moving around and i need more ideas of what to add to my game to make it more fun to play. These things could be powerups or weapons or just any sort of fun idea. ps. I am pretty new to this unity stuff so make sure it isn't anything way to difficult to create.
Add random mechanics you enjoyed in other games, but don't necessarily keep them. Instead just figure out why those mechanics might be useful, not just fun. For example a bad design is adding a dash because every other platform game has some sort of dash with vibration. That solves nothing except make what should be a unique hook a simple clone. The enemy AI and environment will often teach you what mechanics the player might need to succeed, rather than trying to add a solution for a problem that does not yet exist.
In an FPS game, the best thing you can do right now is go for making a test environment and one AI type - a grunt. When that is done, you can begin the journey of making new AI types that challenge in unique ways. Then, and only then if the player struggles, will you work out what mechanics might need to be added to counter that new threat or environment challenge (climbing / grapple / local thrown teleport etc) So many things are possible but they will not be fun unless the AI and the environment actually make it worth having.
i guess its sort of like the common business scheme - you cause a problem and then sell the solution. cause has to come before the effect. if you have something to play it's easier to work from that. show videos or put demo in feedback friday and get ideas from other people.
You should add things that will create orthogonal gameplay. that is make enemies in weapons that are situational and force decision making. good gameplay is a series of interesting choices. You should be making enemies that make the player decide where to move, who to prioritize, and what tools to use against them. and make sure that enemies are predictable with “barks” so a player can read the situation.
Main thing about the FPS genre of games is movement. Getting around the environment for cover or a better vantage point should make event the most basic weapon in the game viable in any fight. As Hippocoder said, set up a test environment for each major environment you want to include in the game, and go against a basic enemy AI. This will let you see the advantages and hazards of those environments.
I am currently trying to develop a slot game and I am getting my inspiration from this website. From there I find the best online casino games and I think I can make even better ones. The better the graphics, the more appealing to gamblers they will be!
Put in what you think would make the game fun. Okay. Here is my idea. How about adding in super jumping? Give the characters the ability to super jump.
