Ice and Snow Shader help

Found this article on vertex snow and icicles. I have the shader code that the person used. she used Polybrush to paint the shader onto her mesh. I am having difficulty turning to figure out how to do it.

 

She didn’t paint the shader onto the object, she painted the vertex colors on the object after applying a material that uses the shader.

Drag the material onto the object, then open up poly brush, fill with black, then go to brush, change the color mask so you’re only painting red, and paint away.
