In my scripts I have defines which ignore all network code in my game. This is fine for compiling to Windows 8 Store but the game won't even compile for Windows Phone if there are NetworkViews attached to game objects in the editor.

Is there a way to make it compile for Windows Phone where it can just ignore these components? Any tricks or workarounds?

If not can this be a feature request? BTW I am using Unity 4.2 if somehow this has changed in later versions.

This didn't change in later Unity versions and won't change in the future.
Unity is going to replace the outdated Unity Networking you are using with new uNet multiplayer features soon. Those will run on Windows 8 Phone and Store. Unity's old networking will not.

You could port your game to Photon Unity Networking, which supports Windows 8 builds and is quite close to Unity's networking.
I guess the same is true for other middleware, too.

Does that mean in future I will have to strip out all the NetworkViews from my game? Programming is such a hassle. :( Oh well, I'll just leave my Windows Phone version for now or I'd have to make a completely new version. (Don't know why the compiler didn't just ignore the NetworkViews as is does for Windows Metro, but anyway.) Any idea when this new networking will be? I'm not holding my breath!
