I want my forum name back please!

I find it very nasty that my old nick name gots completely removed by the UDN now.

First i get forced to register to a forum where i never participated and never will participate anyways. Then i get forced to use another nickname for that because my old nickname is "already in use" - which i definitely know it was not.

I could have lived with that. I don`t use Unity Answers and Unity feedback anyways. And the forum login was still with my old nickname. But today my forum nickname gots removed for the sake of the new nickname. The one that i never wanted and never needed before this ugly UDN move.

I want my old nick name back please!

What the hell is with the replies? His whole post is about his name and people are responding with unhelpful links and welcomes. I also want my forum name back but I've been ignored so far. This is really starting to piss me off.

#2 hasn't logged in in a million years.

Kind of sad, i can't remember my user-ID in the first database anymore. I guess i was in the 20-40 range but for sure on the first page. Wrote a couple of too aggressive stuff as well, sorry.

 

So, you're mad that someone uses a name that you like, on a forum you don't use, and will never use? I'm curious why this would matter to you? Have you perhaps trademarked that user name? Or you just feel like, out of all 7 billion people in the world, that you alone have some sort of special hold on that user name? Just trying to understand here.

 

It's probably Tiles and it seems like he lost his forum name on a forum that he does use. It has a certain reputation and people know him by that name here, and he would like to keep it. I think my understanding of this is correct?

 

eedok without the 2 is stuck in limbo too, as I made an answers account but forgot the password to, and the forgot password takes an e-mail address, and I've put in every e-mail I've ever used and apparently none are on file, so because I answered 1 question in 2009 I now can't use my main account anymore as I can't claim the answers account

Well, i haven`t only lost my nick name and the connection with lots of interesting threads by that, but also a number of PM`s that i wanted to keep.

I am sure i am not the only one with this problem. And still hope that this issue can be resolved. Not just for me, but for all affected persons.

What i don`t understand is this "hush hush" manner that we can see happen here. And that fixes and changings mixes up the stuff even more. Wasn`t there a good plan, a good strategy before the move? And what about plan B for cases like us?

I think this is going to take some "settling in".

Soon, UT will roll out a "profile" for Unity Developer Network which will allow people to change personal settings such as email address, password and name. I'm unclear about conflict resolution between names and use locations.

Arunderan/Tiles: What's up with you and the accounts? You seem to have two? Tiles exists as you posted in Diviner's other thread...

 

Yeah what I dont like about it is two things the little bar at the top takes up even more room (saying Unity Developer network). And the fact it seems like I have to login in every 10 minutes (I have had to relogin in 3 tmes today even though its says remember me is clicked).

Well, i was able to keep my forum account with the old name Tiles. While the other two accounts already had the new name Arunderan. This state lasted up to the todays changings . And it was between those by you mentioned two postings where the change happened. Then my Tiles account vanished, and the Arunderan account took over, and grabbed the control.

When did you create the new forum account?

I noticed that both Arunderan and Tiles have the same email address, and I suspect the same password.

This seems to confuse Unity Developer Network somehow.

What is the name on your Unity Developer Network account?

 

The name of the UDN account is Arunderan. Because it didn`t let me choose my old nick.

 

We can move this to PM or Skype if you want. There are a couple potential solutions, depending on answers to the other questions, for getting full control back, first off, and then your "Tiles" name, second.

 

I'm not gonna lie. I was pretty annoyed that I couldnt call myself 'Brilliant Game Studios" because it was too many characters...? So had to call myself Brilliant Games...

 

I´m green with PM. I have problems with my ears, so skype is no good idea really.

TBH, I've not looked into it either, as the web-dev's are pretty busy. It's on my list, however. I'll let you know when I find out!

All it says is: no valid file. No matter if i use a gif, a jpg or a png.

 

Official UDN supported format is jp2.

I have poblems with my ears but use skype daily. Did you know that the video side of things isn't the main use of skype? it's an IM client with nifty shared room features for text and desktop sharing for debugging as well as the odd vid call.

 

Thanks for the hint. I haven`t really known that. It was mainly a voice chat last time i checked Skype. Must`ve been some years. Still, i`m no friend of video chat neither. I`m not photogenic enough anymore

No, the real reason is that i try to avoid everything where you need to register, and where my personal data could be in danger. Be it Skype, be it ICQ, be it Google or Facebook. I`m simply a bit paranoic at this point

That email address doesn't work.

 

I had absolutely no need for any support: i read first post in this thread, sent some requests for lost passwords and claimed my accounts back. No trouble what so ever. Come on guys, if i can do it - so can you.

I might not be the best motivational speaker (nor handicapped) but this is best i can do. So yeah, you're not alone and be encouraged to try again.
