In Visual Studio you get an additional highlight. If I reference this variable in another script, and I hover my mouse over it, or it autocompletes this variable it shows me a tooltip which shows me the summary.

For those wondering, in Visual Studio, you can type three slashes (///) above a namespace, class, interface, struct, field, method, or property to automatically insert an XML summary like in the screenshot.

And as stated above, intellisense will display these summaries whenever referenced.

True, but you're a mac user now, and thus begins the slippery slope.

Oh that's right, I have to port this game to Mac soon, and need something to code in if I want to do any coding on the Mac. Yikes. Not a fan of VS.

Me neither personally I use sublime text although everyone keeps banging on about VS code or jetbrains (shudders)

I just stick with what I'm used to.

If you mean a regular old pure text editor then nah, I like my cozy NotePad++ setup. Unless you mean a program literally called "pure text editor", which, do tell. Nostalgia break: I learned programming on a TRS-80 CoCo 1 which is about as close to pure text editing as I think one can get. I kind of do miss those days of pure, uncluttered code.

I did a lot of early programming on a TRS-80 CoCo 3. The TRS-80 was extremely fun at the time, but I actually prefer technology now.

As for cluttered code, did you subscribe to Rainbow magazine back then? They used to have a monthly "one liner" contest, which actually included code up to two lines. Some of those were very cluttered code for the TRS-80. I had a couple programs that got published in that section of that magazine back then, and my code was admittedly quite cluttered to pack it into a couple lines. The coolest two line program I ever saw in that section was a canyon racing game that somebody wrote with two lines of extremely cluttered looking code.

Nice, yeah I got to work on a CoCo3 in the early nineties when I programmed a water (see! relevant post!!) testing system for a swimming pool store. I might get one again some time soon. Lots of cool development still going on in the CoCo scene. Funny, even though new computer tech is amazing now, it doesn't feel as magical as it did to me back then. I still love those old machines so much.

Hell yeah! That's how I learned to program. I had stacks of them back then. Sadly sold them decades ago, but now I have the whole collection in digital format from the Color Computer Archive.

Wow! That's super cool you were in it. It was my dream back then but I wasn't the best coder so I had to learn from people like you. :)

I'll have to look for that. If you know which issue(s) you were in feel free to hit me up with a PM and I'll check them out.

Check out the Rainbow Magazine One Liner PDF:
http://www.colorcomputerarchive.com...ners for the Color Computer (The Rainbow).pdf

Mine are on pages 4 and 6.

I don't remember the name of the author who submitted the two line canyon race game, though. Unfortunately, I threw out all of my old Rainbow magazines about 10 years ago, but it is awesome that people have kept that community alive online after all these years.
