i´m really not sure if some of you know this tool i found recently, it can manage exr lightmap files, if you don´t have photoshop or does not like it, nor does not have $$ to buy it... FDRTools Basic (free version) is a good choice to set contrast, bright and some other image options to optimize your lightmaps..
