Sorry. I should keep the topic not off. I am not good at using Unity. But I knew a little business. It's general discussion forum. So I can comment on Unity business model.
Education is not a good business model for Unity at current time. Without thinking, there are a lot of reasons for not to do this.

Interesting that you think you have more insight into that than UT's business analysts.

From the perspective of someone in the education business, we know that post-covid our overseas recruitment of students is going to be hit hard, and that we're going to have to offer remote learning to many of those we do recruit. Offering specialist remote learning to that market seems like a particularly smart business model for UT to adopt at the current time.

Then Unity will compete with Udemy, Plurasight, and many other online trainers who always support Unity on training. I don't think there are big difference in specialist.

I think there is sth wrong with Unity's business model, but what I said will be labelled as hate or sth like that. I shouldn't overthink it, and it's not my business any more.

That is your first post i can agree with. It's neither your business, nor mine. It's Unity's buisness and they can do what they want.
So we do what we always do. We use what we have at our disposal to make the things we want to make. You don't like what Unity is doing? Don't give them money and move on. Everything else is just preventing you from doing what you actually want to do.

I read a lot of your posts recently (man you post A LOT :D ) and i get the impression that you are trying to find stuff you can argue about. I am not innocent when it comes to arguing, but sometimes you just have to take a step back and concentrate on the thing you actually want to do. Speaking of which, i am back to working on my game...;)

Since you read a lot of my posts, I really post many "thanks".

  14. I love when random guys on the forums try to decide for a corporation what is the "good" and "bad" business model for the company. ROFL.

You just said above that it is an in-person camp with in-person tutoring and accommodation and everything.
Please tell me, how many Udemy or Pluralsight in-person camp did you attend in the past? Just to know that you have some experience with in-person training at least from the student side or something. I don't expect you to be a tutor.

No. There is no competition from them at this point. Udemy might have one or two current tutorial series for Unity but most of them are for older releases and only cover the built-in feature sets, and the Pluralsight tutorial series have generally been a disappointment to people who have signed up for them with many "I regret signing up" threads.

3 months of education (including accomodation!) for 4k? I know things are cheaper in China, but wow. Is that a good deal there? Maybe I need to move to China.

    Closed. Rather pointless and meandering.
