I want to upload my games on http://itch.io/

This website is for general PC gaming (Not virtual reality)

What formats do you need to make your game so it will publish on this website? I usually build my game as Windows, Mac and Linux standalone, so it will play on Oculus Rift. What format should I choose, for it to work on normal PC Gaming?

Same as you've been doing for Oculus Rift. The Rift works through a PC after all. ;)

Anyone who doesn't have a Rift, won't want to play a game that has 2 big circle's covering the screen.

You need to make it so that the Rift post processing is disabled for those who do not have one. A manual override to force it on and off wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Sounds fairly normal for app portals with minimal entry barriers.

I have followed links to game's hosted there before, but somehow never actually browsed it. Wow.

This thread is the first I've heard of it. Some of the games on the front page do look interesting, but they're practically the same cost as older AAA titles on Steam.

    My Eyes!

Wow, some of the games there are quite scary just from the little thumbnail and blurb. Not sure I'd ever be brave enough to click on the "erotic" category. *shudder*

@Michaelm9945: The FAQ specifically says any game, any platform. So, if you are exporting to Windows, Mac, and Linux, you can clearly offer all three.

Why not use Desura? I didn't publish a game there in 2 years but last time I checked it was 2nd to Steam, and had no fees or anything.

This pretty much sums up the vast majority of the games on that site. It simply feels like a site that is aimed at those who cannot possibly publish anywhere else due to policy limitations or simply having a worthless game.

What do you have against poor @Nanako that you would point them down that dark, terrifying alley? *shudder*

there really aren't enough erotic games.

It's rather absurd that we have so many ways to decapitate, disembowel, sttab, slice, shoot, crush, explode, and rip the spine out of our enemies. Yet there are very few games that let you commit rape, or have sexual activity at all as more than a tasteful fade to black.

Corruption of Champions and its scifi sequel, Trials in Tainted Space are really all that comes to mind.

Hi, I am making a website very similar to itch.io, any suggestions or advice or feature requests for it? It's launching in July this year.
