i dont know how to start

Im a beginner in unity and im trying to learn more about programming using the c# language. The problem is that after I double click to open, it doesnt open. Please if you know what's the porblem answer me...

@PraetorBlue after i open the file extesion theres nothing ... am i supposed to download something else despite the personal version so that i can use the script ? i think im not getting something obvious ... hope you understant what im trying to say ..if you have any suggestions please let me know

 

Don't use "open by file extension". Use Visual Studio.

In the Unity Hub, when you install your Unity version, there's an option to also install Visual Studio. You don't necessarily need it, but it's highly recommended to have a functioning IDE, and VS is good for that and included.

If you haven't installed it yet, you can add it to your installation in the Unity hub as well.

 

@MatrixQ im trying to download the workloads but every time i click install it says that something went wrong

 

"Something went wrong" is not very specific. Is that literally what it tells you, or is there an actual error message?

 

@Yoreki i select from the the workloads the game development with unity and c++ and as soon as i click install a window comes up saying sorry, something went wrong

 

i might just give up .. i dont know what else to do

 

You don't need c++.

 

it still says something went wrong .. i also tried to open vs while being on the unity app but it an error comes up this time

 

guys thank you all i finally solved the problem by changing from vs community to vs code and doing also some file changes.
