I dont know why there are no tutorials for people who cannot hook up a quest to their machine...

But I just want a tutorial for 2019 unity that shows me how to set up a player with a VR player controller with vr headset used for looking around and walking around and how to set up the hand controllers...a very simple tutorial...and yet No matter how hard I look i cant find such a thing..

    WHY??? its driving me nuts!

That's not simple. Simple is, VR headset used for looking around. And for that, here's the tutorial:

    1. Start a new project. (It will already have a camera in the sample scene.)
    2. Add a ground Plane, and maybe throw in some Cubes and Spheres so there are things to see.
    3. Run.
That's it. I've left out the part about selecting the right XR SDK, because you said you don't actually have the headset. But when you do have a headset, you plug that in, select the Android build target, select the right XR option in the player settings, and then run, and it should launch on your headset. At that point you can look around your scene in 3D.

To go beyond that with movement and controller interaction etc. gets more complicated fast, and the "right" approach keeps changing with every release of Unity and the Oculus SDK. But all doable if you are patient, and take it one step at a time.

There are no tutorials because it's spelled out in the documentation and because the documentation is constantly evolving with each and every release of both Unity and the SDKs. Tutorials only truly start to appear once everything has stabilized.

Virtual reality may have been on the market now for a few years but it's still very much in its infancy and everyone trying to make games with it are effectively pioneers of the technology. That major companies are trying it out is more that their engineers are as excited about it as we are than it truly being a sound investment.

It's not like this is unique to virtual reality either. Two days ago I spent nearly an entire day trying to get Unity working with my Xbox One S as a UWP development platform using the publicly available docs only to discover that some important details were either missing or out of date. It was only due to a screenshot that I was able to finish it in the end.

Hmm. Perhaps post a screen shot of your XR settings and the error message?
