How to use the particle collision message to spawn in sprite/resize the paricles

    So Im kinda new to particle systems, ive figured out how to use trails and collisions, but i want to make a blood "squirt effect", like in hotline miami when you kill someone, where the particles start as just trails (red lines) but when they hit the floor (collide with the floor transform in my case) they become a blood splat, or a blood sprite that spawns in and faces the center of emission. What ive tried doing is making the particles really small, so the trails are only visible, and then making them big when they get the collision message, but they dont get bigger, since im guessing the size change affects new particles. Any help would be appreciated) Thanks a lot guys!
