How to trigger animations on specific objects contained in a single fbx file?

Is there a way to trigger animations on individual objects contained in a single .fbx file? For example, say I have two valves in one file. They both open from frames 0-10. Currently, if I fire Take001, both will open at the same time (obviously).

Can I trigger the animation on Valve01 without triggering the animation on Valve02?

What I'm looking to do is to be able to set up a scene in 3ds max with many valves, all of which have keyframe animations on them so they open from 0-10. I'd like to be able to export the scene to a single .fbx file, but once in Unity would like the ability to individually control each valve independent of any other valve.

    Is this even possible?

    Thanks for your help!
