I have launched a new app on android which is pretty basic.
    It's been 4th day today, I haven't received not a single download.
I read somewhere that the app will show to all the users for 72 hours in newly released but unfortunately it never happened.
Please suggest me what I do.
    Regards,
    M.Aqib

If it's pretty basic then it will disappear to the sea of thousands of other basic apps. You did not link the app but it should have at least a sexy icon, attractive name and content rich screen shots to users even bothering to check it.

Both the App Store and Google Play launch over 1,000 new apps per day. Assuming they're even able to find it (as Ostwind pointed out, you didn't even link to it here in an attempt to promote it), they have to have a reason to give it a try once they get there. I'm assuming it's a paid app, or you'd likely get daily bot downloads like I do.

So let's assume a very good conversion rate of 1%. So for every hundred people to notice your app in the store and view its detail page, one of them buys it. If you're doing nothing to promote it, you may be lucky and 5 people will stumble upon it each day. So if our numbers hold up, it could take as long as 20 days before you get your first purchase.

Granted, real conversion rates are probably much lower, and even more so if the app doesn't have good meta content (screenshots, description, video) and the app (game, I assume) doesn't seem interesting or worth it to the average consumer.

I'm not positive how Google works, but Apple curates their selection of apps for the good of the Store. I have to assume Google works the same way. If so, and I mean no offense, it seems very unlikely your game would be selected to be on the New Games list. As you said, it's a pretty basic game, and nothing new. There have been hundreds (if not thousands) of keep-the-ball-up apps over the years, many of which probably have additional features and a higher degree of polish and style.

Since the app is free, what is your goal with trying to get downloads right away? Best advice I could give would be to call this one finished and move on to the next game.

Could you show us the app? Does it have quality of some sort or is it just another one of those "test projects" flooding the store? If latter is the case, let me assure you, people are becoming fed up of digging through them, to find something worth downloading - no offense.

The link is above and the app looks exactly like this based on screen shots so the reason for no downloads is right there.

To @ActivePrime, No offense from me either but your app is the exact opposite what I said in my previous post. It has a very generic icon, the name is as generic as it can get and then finally the screen shots don't show anything interesting to users. Actually they don't show much at all as in whats the gameplay like. It just looks like there will be a ball on the screen and when you click it the counter increases.

Alright, that's as generic as it gets...
