Question How to open VSCode as Admin from Unity?

Hi,

I have a few extensions in VSCode that require VSCode being run as admin to function properly. However, Unity doesn't seem to accept shortcuts (set as admin) in its exe path in the Preferences window, so I'm looking for an alternative. Is there a way to open VSCode from Unity as admin.

 

Plugins that require admin privileges? That is suspicious. What are these?

Anyway, it might work if you ran Unity as an admin. Wouldn't recommend it though. The user account control does prevent a large swath of security breaches or simply accidental destructive behaviour.

 

Those are just cosmetic extensions to enable custom CSS styles, nothing important to my project but I wanted to change how my editor looked. These extensions seem safe as they are popular and didn't fire any warnings on my computer, so I assume they're fine.

Starting Unity as an admin doesn't do anything as the VSCode exe Unity launches would still require an admin request itself.
