How to Manage Assets?

I am having a bit of trouble, I have lots of assets from different projects on my local computer and was wondering how can I manage them. I have to open each asset to check it's models, textures, etc. it's a bit hard to keep track of them.

Is there a free software which can keep track of all my assets and show me their images so I can select the asset I want instead of searching through all my files ?
