    Hi all

So I learnt how to create a skybox with a customized texture. However that is a bit dead. Is it possible to make skies with Unity like that in this skyrim video ?

They have different daytimes, sunsets, moving clouds etc. and all looks pretty believable.

If it is possible, does anyone know a good tutorial / documentation about it ?

    Thank you very much

    Hi Kirahy,

Here are some links that can hopefully get you started (post copied from http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/21515/how-do-i-make-a-moving-skybox.html)

This pretty much does all the sky and clouds animation all in one amazing package:

Here is a link to the sun light wiki page, has some stuff about changing the light and colour of the sun:

This one is a link to the skybox blend wiki page:

This guy is selling a tutorial all about making a day/night cycle:

Those links seem to have been copied directly from that answers post from 2010.

The wiki how now moved to http://wiki.unity3d.com/index.php/Main_Page

The forum has been updated twice (at least) since 2010, so some of the forum content may have moved.

The pixel studio nl link is valid but stale (2009)...

    ... SO...

Not a great post, but I don't see any mal intent, just a bad repost.

Ok, at least I could reconstruct some of the dead links, lol, thanks Adam. Yes after all the post is not that useless after the link reconstruction.

So the wiki with code for the sun and the skyblending sounds very interesting

However I would recommend the people to test links before posting. I would do this alone to check whether the content covers the question. So I would discover dead links immediately.

Anyway, thanks for the help, that seems to be a huge progress already. However I am still happy to get tips for more overall covering tutorials that are about, skies, suns, suns behind clouds (like in the video, that is the part that gives the sky the biggest credibility), clouds moving with the wind and wheather etc.

hehe, it is ok, I was only really angry because the first link wanted to install a vrus, but in the end I got some useful info out of your message with the baselinks from Adam. So thank you after all :) However, though it helped, I am still looking for even more detailled info.

Eon Vue has some fantastic skies (it's an environment building app) and I believe it has a free version. You can create skyboxes from 'atmospheres' in Vue - I tried it a while back but may have to review the process. Here's a short blog post I made at the time

Hi there, As I mentioned I solved the problem how to make custom skyboxes, the topic is how to make a sun that is behind clouds, changing day system (partly solved with a link of rnakrani), a weather system (I am not speaking of rain and snow, that is clear in the documentations, more about clouds in the wind, lightnings that light the clouds etc), dramatic effects on skies etc. So Vue is no solution for me since all it makes are textures for my skyboxes.

I have not watched this tutorial, but did watch the demo. This gentleman has made a simple day night cycle in U5. This is a demo to show of Real Time GI, FWIW:

I still need to get the moving clouds to work with the sun seemingly moving behind them, but this video is surely a big help in some of the aspects I still needed answered. Thank you very much Adam, appreciated.
