How to log in?

OS X user 2020.1

If I go to Asset Store Tools->Package Manager, I am unable to log in, receiving a "communication failure" message.

I have NO idea what I am supposed to put in "username" field. My "username?" -- seemingly not. My email? Perhaps. Neither works with my password.

Worse, I decide I am going to make (once again) the foolish mistake of creating a new account just to make it work, and this yields a 404 error.

Has anyone at Unity tried using the software?

EDIT: I clicked on the old "Asset Store" button near the Game view, and then on the "Open Package Manager" button, and it did not ask me to log in.

What is the vision here?
