The shadows are rendering at way too low distance. Let me show you:

So as you can see the shadow of the roof doesn't really render on the ground for very long. I do not want people to be walking up to a house and all of a sudden a bunch of shadows appear.

Just coming to this thread after switching to the LWRP and noticed it is now inside your Render Pipeline Asset. (The one assigned in Graphics Settings. [NOTE: THIS IS ONLY IF USING A SRP])

I thought Unity was making an effort to unify all Options into a consistent location? Why is the URP Shadow Distance quality setting not in the Quality Settings window? Where is it now?

    Answer:
Edit --> Project Settings --> Graphics --> Select the object at the top under 'Scriptable Render Pipeline Settings'

"Project Settings / HDRP Default Settings / Volume Components / Shadows..."
    This was frustrating...

Holy S***. I'm working in a project based on the HDRP Demo Scene. And I found the relevant setting here:
Edit- Project Settings - HDRP Default Settings
There you find Volume Settings and Max Distance vor Shadows.

I hope this helps some of you guys

I selected this (I made my own URP Settings following this video
) but still when I click on my "Universal Render Pipeline Asset" and adjust the settings under "Shadows" by setting a max distance of 500, the shadows still only cast within about 30m of the camera.

Solution: In Project Settings > Quality, make sure the SAME Universal Render Pipeline Asset is selected here as the one in the Graphics Section. Now the Shadow distance adjusts as expected.

Hey, I know it's an old thread but I couldn't find the shadow Max Distance in HDRP Default Settings because I have no HDRP Default Settings.
But I found the setting under Shadows tab in Universal Render Pipeline Asset object.

Edit: My version of Unity Editor is 2021.3.11
